Technical difficulties

nov. 16 007

Moments after taking this photo of my work gloves I dropped my camera. The lens housing is twisted and can't retract. Camera won't stay turned on. Boo Hoo. No telling when I will be able to take more photos. Buster is taking it to his friend in the camera repair shop but I might have to go shopping for a new one. Anyone have a tip about an inexpensive wonderful camera model?

have it abundantly

So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. [...] I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. [...] I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. -John 10:7, 9-11

This is the pine tree next to the playground at about 8 am. I bumped up the contrast a little bit. Here it is in color with no editing (a separate shot):

those who do not see

Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.” -John 9:39

So for the second time they called the man who had been blind and said to him, “Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.” He answered, “Whether he is a sinner I do not know. One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.” -John 9: 24-25

the light of life

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” -John 8:12

he bent down and wrote on the ground

Nov. 6 006

Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground. -John 8:6-8

What do you think Jesus was writing on the ground with his finger?

If anyone thirsts

nov. 6 006

On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” -John 7:37-38

What must we do?

bw leaf pile

Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. Do not labor for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” -John 6:26-29

whoever comes to me shall not hunger

Kitchen Buddha bookends

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” -John 6:25-40

so that these people may eat

Nov. w 014

Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?” He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii would not buy enough bread for each of them to get a little.” One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to him, “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many?” Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number. Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted. And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, “Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost.” So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten. -John 6:5-13

passed from death to life

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. -John 5:24

I am participating in Springtree Road's black and white project for November. I took these yesterday on a walk through the neighborhood and while we were raking leaves in the yard. Even my three year old loves to rake leaves! (And of course jump in the pile...)

But I couldn't resist taking some color shots too:

October 2008 retrospective

October 2008

This might be the first month where I had two face shots of myself. I'm just beginning to wonder what next month's mosaic will look like if I am shooting mostly b&w. I went out for a walk today with my camera and shot about half in b&w. I couldn't resist taking some color of the leaves. They are really brilliant; glowing with light. I know I'm going to learn a lot in November.

Jesus saw him

One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” -John 5:5-6

These were taken on the last day of October. Since I am going to black and white for November I'm giving you a few extra shots today.
