Trisha, at her Miss Rumphius Effect blog, does a Poetry Stretch challenge every Monday. This week she's talking about acrostics for the autumn. This is my attempt.

I took this photo at about 7:45 this morning when the sun had been up about an hour. I haven't done any processing at all- somehow the leaf really is that eye-popping color.

So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his. -Hebrews 4:9-10

Picture day at the daycare today, at kindergarten on Friday, and at soccer last Saturday. After school on Friday we went to the barbershop that plays loud Spanish music.

the radiance of the glory of God

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high... Hebrews 1:1-3

Tango

This is the book Buddy, my 6 y.o., brought home from the library. After I read it to him he said, "It's a counting book!" Next week is banned book week. In my home and in my school we are celebrating by not even knowing what a banned book is.

dwell in you richly

Sept. 22 002

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. -Colossians 4:15-17

things that are above

monkeys 2

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. -Colossians 3:1-4

the glory of this mystery

two wheels are not enough

...to make the word of God fully known, the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:25b-27

whatever is lovely

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, , whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. -Philippians 4:8

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:6-7

what lies ahead

But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 3:13-14

I am experimenting with making graphic stories in the software "Comic Life", which my school has purchased for the kids to use. I took a series of photos with some toys to illustrate a dream Buddy told me he had. It was a lot of fun putting this together but I'm not sure how it will fit the curriculum yet. Lots of potential for story telling and it's easy to use.

To write the same things

Sept. 16 007

Finally, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you is no trouble to me and is safe for you. Philippians 3:1

complete my joy

crayon basket

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. -Philipians 2:1-3

And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. -Philippians 1:9-11

august retrospective

Here is my mosaic for August. It was a really good month full of sunshine and luscious fruit. I feel like I'm at the top of the roller coaster looking down into the steep plunge of September. Here we go...

now that faith has come

sweet 100s

But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise. -Galatians 3:25-29
