Ring my bell

April 25 016

There were also women looking on from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome.
When he was in Galilee, they followed him and ministered to him, and there were also many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem. [...] And Joseph bought a linen shroud, and taking Jesus down [from the cross], wrapped him in the linen shroud and laid him in a tomb that had been cut out of the rock. And he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb. Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where he was laid. -Mark 15 40-41, 46-47

The scripture is ringing my bell.

"And joseph bought a shroud and took Jesus down from the cross".

What a crazy time Jospeh must have had as an adoptive father. He agrees to accept Jesus as his son when Mary shows up pregnant, and an angel tells him in a dream that the baby will be the Savior. Then Jesus is this extraordinary boy, hanging out in the temple and talking with the priests. Then he becomes this well known controversial figure who is eventually killed. And Joseph is still there, still fathering him, taking him off of the cross and caring for his body. After all Jesus put him through with His crazy life...Hm.
