Hyacinth

hyacinth 2

You have kept count of my tossings;

put my tears in your bottle.
Are they not in your book?

This I know, that God is for me.
In God, whose word I praise,
in the Lord, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid
-Psalm 56:8-11

Funny. There's a flower that I don't like much in real life, but the photo is terrific! I find the scent too powerful.

Though the scent really is VERY strong on these, I love the idea of them -- in memory. Much like the ideas of tears in a bottle -- in memory, not in the present -- is also beautiful and touching.

Thanks guys! The strong scent of these flowers reminds me of the arboretum hothouse my parents used to take us to as kids. For a Sunday outing we would go visit this place that had greenhouses full of exotic plants; from cacti to rainforest orchids. The room full of this type of flower was so overpowering we always complained it gave us headaches. We would race through it to get to the dry desert room.

Now I can appreciate these flowers when I walk by and the scent wafts in the breeze... but I don't go out of my way to grow them myself. I like the colors and curving lines in this closeup.
